It is the first ACiD-WG Workshop to be held in Finland. Previous workshops were held in Belgium, the Netherlands, Spain, Denmark and Portugal, as part of the 3rd Framework Programme (EP7225), in the Netherlands, Italy, the United Kingdom and France, as part of the 4th Framework Programme (EP21949),  and in Switzerland, Germany, and Greece, as part of the 5th Framework Programme (IST-1999-29119).

THEME OF THE WORKSHOP

SWOT Analysis of Globally and/or Locally Asynchronous Circuit Design

The primary aim of this workshop is to agree and articulate an understanding of the Strengths and Weaknesses of asynchronous circuit design, as well as the Opportunities and Threats for its wider use in the semiconductor industry. The purpose of such an analysis is to encourage technology transfer activities in areas we are strong and where the greatest opportunities lie.

As in previous workshops, technical presentations on asynchronous circuit design are also welcome.  The final workshop programme will be organised around the research and development work that participants have indicated that they wish to present.

PARTICIPATION

Although a core of participants will be experts in the field, potential users from industry wishing to learn about asynchronous design are encouraged to attend and even to present their needs. PhD students are also encouraged to use the workshop as an opportunity to get feedback on their work.

Registration is free, but early registration is recommended. The final registration deadline is 31st May, 2004. Please use the attached registration form. Applicants will receive notification of acceptance or rejection of participation in due course. Individuals from member organisations of ACiD-WG should first contact their representative.

Participants are responsible for making their own travel arrangements and accommodation arrangements (see information below). Some travel bursaries are available for participants from non-member organisations within the European Union and Associated States.

CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE SWOT ANALYSIS

Prospective participants are encouraged to email to the organisers (by 31st May, 2004) their contributions to the SWOT analysis. These will form the basis of our discussion at the workshop.
